PR appears to be interpreting these correctly including spaces. To review, open the file in an editor that reveals hidden Unicode characters. The export from Aegisub is nice clean srt, with and setting off the italics. This file contains bidirectional Unicode text that may be interpreted or compiled differently than what appears below.
All output of an fx function should be appended to the subtitle file represented by subtitles. You can change the size of the outline and shadow on the right.
You can change the font, size, put in bold, italic, etc., choose the color of the text (primary color), outline and shadow. Click on the Edit button under the waves. Import to PR and see what you have regarding italics. Signature of fx functions: keep fxeffect(subtitles, meta, styles, line, fxdata) fxdata is the contents of the Effect field after the initial word defining the effect to be used. You can change the color, format, font and video position of all or some subtitles. So try again from Aegisub using "Export Subtitles" as srt. But PR will import formatting from srt if there is formatting. The first thing you always want to check is if it's a progressive sync issue (timing gets worse and worse), or constant sync issue (e.g. I don't know if this is progressive at this point or consistent in the rest of the film. Some of my confusion was that PR strips formatting when exporting Open Captions as srt, including italics code. The subtitle is delayed from the audio and appears to have to be moved backward in time. But I was doing font color as the test, and now that I focus on italics as the critical element, I have discovered that Aegisub keeps the italics in the exported. I concluded that Aegisub strips formatting when I do a simple export to srt.

And some of these formats use code that can't be edited like that.Ĭlarification, since I got confused. What format/file type are you trying to use for import to PR? I don't see that it helps to edit the A S A file itself.
